Thinking about Natlan

Just a few days before the new 5.3 patch of Genshin Impact I find myself thinking about this game and it's development, more concisely with the Pyro region, Natlan.
A lot has been already said about this patch, and personally I do find a lot of faults in this region. Specially with the character design, along with some story elements and certain pet peeves of mine play-wise.
There's no doubt that the current region has been giving the community a lot of discussions, debates and opinions. Some more... angry than others, sometimes I'm kinda of impressed about how some people still play the game despite being so angry with it.
I think that it is natural that a game with almost 5 years in the making changes certain aspects, retcons parts of the story, or simply try new mechanics or gameplays. But I personally believe that they tried to bite more than they could chew, and certain aspects of the game feel... off. I do not find surprising some of the current critiques about how Natlan feels so out of place within Genshin universe, but I also can see how hard the development team tried to make it enjoyable and new.
Starting with the character designs in Natlan, I am not angry about their clothes, whether being ripped jeans, sneakers or leather body suits. For once I do appreciate their more modern look in clothes, but as with a lot of people I do find disingenuous the fact that they are willing to borrow cultural elements but still erasure the people that are a part of said cultures. And they don't even see good, why is the Traveler so sunburn in comparison with the natives?
Other aspects of the story could been better developed, I didn't feel like Mualani deserved that moment where she inherentes her ancient name, for example. Kachina's story line could have been a better fit.
However there's some things that I really like that don't seem that much popular with other players, for example Mavuika, I've seen some comments about her being a Mary Sue... but I actually really like her, through the game she has felt like a good community leader, albeit a little bit stubborn, willing to sacrifice herself, lore-wise she has sacrificed herself more than once, from a time travel plan that separates from her family and friends, her archon powers and is ready to give her life away too.
But I do think that her plan is a little bit tad too weird, I think that's actually the real problem that goes around her lore, otherwise she actually seems like a good character, not great, but not as bad as other people are expressing.
Feel free to disagree with me, these are just my opinions.
